WR Tyreek Hill To Begin Negotiations For 2026 Deal

Tyreek Hill has been unsigned for the first four weeks of the 2026 season. His next contract could be in place shortly, however.
Per Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus (h/t ESPN’s Adam Schefter), talks on a new deal are set to begin today. He anticipates an agreement being reached in short order. Rosenhaus confirms the Chiefs are among the interested parties in this case.
Kansas City’s receiver depth chart was dealt multiple blows during the team’s win yesterday. Rashee Rice suffered a hamstring injury while Tyquan Thornton dislocated his ankle. In need of at least one addition at the WR spot, the Chiefs represent a logical suitor for free agents. A Hill reunion in particular is something the team was recently confirmed to be exploring.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo notes a Chiefs-Hill pact “feels inevitable” at the moment. Per colleague Ian Rapoport (video link), Kansas City’s interest will be impacted by the eight-time Pro Bowler’s health status. Hill was limited to just four games in 2025, and he has been recovering from a major leg injury for one year. His social media activity has pointed to a new pact being worked out shortly, however, and today’s update further suggests as much.
Hill required multiple surgeries after what proved to be his final game as a member of the Dolphins. The 32-year-old was not in position to play by Week 1, although Rosenhaus expressed confidence a midseason return would be feasible. Provided a deal is in fact signed over the next few days, a short ramp-up period could indeed result in Hill suiting up for his next team in time for the second half of the campaign.
From 2016-21, Hill operated as a focal point on offense with Kanas City. Four of his five career first-team All-Pro nods came during his Chiefs tenure, and the former fifth-round pick won the Super Bowl in 2019. Hill was reported in July to still be fond of his first career team, and speculation about a reunion has gained steam ever since. Especially given Kansas City’s current receiver situation, an aggressive pursuit of a deal would come as no surprise.
The Chiefs have just $3.1MM in cap space at the moment, something which could complicate contract talks. Nevertheless, Hill’s next NFL deal will of course be worth far less than the $30MM average annual value of his two Miami contracts. It will be interesting to see how his market takes shape and which other suitors make a push in the immediate future.
