3:32pm: McManus’ workout impressed the Rams, who are signing him, per Garafolo and NFL Network colleague Ian Rapoport.
1:12pm: Upon moving on from Harrison Mevis, the Rams added Blake Grupe as his kicker replacement. That proved to be short-lived, due to Grupe’s injury on Sunday.
It has since been learned that Grupe suffered an ACL tear during his Rams debut. Los Angeles is once again in need of a new kicker as a result. A pair of veterans will receive a look. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports Brandon McManus and Matt Prater will take part in a Rams workout.

McManus has played in 186 career games, and he operated as Green Bay’s primary kicker in 2024 and ’25. The Packers opted to draft a kicker (Trey Smack) in April, though, and McManus was released shortly thereafter. This marks his first known workout since hitting the open market.
Prater has 269 appearances to his name, and he was also a regular as recently as the 2025 season. The two-time Pro Bowler filled in for an injured Tyler Bass for the Bills last year, connecting on 18 of 20 field goal tries and 46 of 49 extra point attempts. That represented a higher accuracy rate than McManus.
Sitting 31st in the NFL with respect to cap space at the moment, Los Angeles cannot afford a big-ticket addition at any position. That includes the kicker spot, although any new arrival will no doubt be joining via a veteran minimum contract. If McManus or Prater are willing to do so, at least one of them could be in the fold as early as Week 7.
