Jack Bech will see his second Raiders season stalled due to an arm injury. The Raiders are placing the 2025 second-round wide receiver draftee on IR. They are signing wideout Cody White to fill Bech’s roster spot.
Bech joins fellow 2025 Raiders receiver draftee Dont’e Thornton on IR. Las Vegas also waived wide receiver Justin Shorter with an injury settlement and signed Phillip Dorsett to their practice squad. Bech suffered a broken forearm in Week 3, per NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, who indicates a late-season return will be expected in this case.
John Spytek’s first draft as Raiders GM brought Bech to Vegas at pick No. 58. The possession target caught 20 passes for 224 yards and no touchdowns as a rookie. Through three 2026 games, the TCU product is at five receptions for 48 yards and a TD. He will spend a good chunk of this season rehabbing, though it does not appear the campaign is lost for the second-year player.
The Raiders placed Thornton on IR soon after setting their initial 53-man roster, giving the 2025 fourth-rounder a chance to return in-season (he would be first eligible next week). Neither Bech nor Thornton was among Vegas’ top five receiving yardage leaders last season, leading to big questions at the position — following the Jakobi Meyers trade — this offseason. Although the Raiders are 3-0, they have not gotten great receiver production yet.
Drafted two regimes ago (the Dave Ziegler-Josh McDaniels pairing), Tre Tucker leads the Raiders with 189 receiving yards. No other Raider wideout has more than 52. That is Jalen Nailor’s disappointing total so far. Las Vegas signed the ex-Minnesota No. 3 wide receiver to a three-year, $35MM deal that included $18MM fully guaranteed. Tucker is in a contract year, leaving a glaring void ahead of Fernando Mendoza’s ascent to the starting QB post.
A standard elevation for the season’s first three weeks, White has pitched in for some notable contributions. He caught two TD passes from Kirk Cousins in the team’s Week 2 win, and his lone reception in Week 3 went for a score. Having 28 receiving yards and three TDs is not exactly a sustainable pace, but the Raiders are giving the 27-year-old pass catcher a shot. White spent multiple years with the Seahawks — the first of which under Pete Carroll — but was not with the Raiders during the Super Bowl-winning HC’s one-and-done Vegas stay. The Raiders added White to their P-squad earlier this month.
