OCTOBER 21: Tyson will have to wait a little longer to play his first NFL game. General manager Mickey Loomis told reporters on Wednesday that Tyson is not ready to return to practice. “He is improving and we feel like we’re getting closer,” Loomis said (via Katherine Terrell of ESPN).
OCTOBER 19: Jordyn Tyson has yet to make his NFL debut, but that could change shortly. The Saints rookie will be with the team in Paris for Week 7.
Head coach Kellen Moore said on Monday that Tyson is among the players who will be traveling to Paris. The same is also true of linebacker Kaden Elliss. Tyson has been sidelined through the first six weeks of the campaign while recovering from a hamstring injury. This year’s No. 8 pick has done so while remaining on injured reserve.
The Saints moved Tyson to IR-designated for return during roster cuts. His activation has already been accounted for as a result, although his practice window has not yet been opened. New Orleans will have 21 days to bring Tyson onto the active roster once the team opens his practice window. As expected, that has not happened yet.
Earlier this month, it was reported the Saints were unlikely to have Tyson available prior to Week 7. That has proven true for now, but it is interesting the Arizona State product will travel with the team overseas. New Orleans’ bye week will follow the team’s Paris game, meaning a cautious practice approach could set up for a Week 9 debut. In any case, it will be interesting to see how the Saints proceed in this case.
Activating Tyson will give New Orleans a boost in the passing game. Similarly, Elliss returning to the fold would be welcomed on defense. The free agent addition (who played out his rookie contract with the Saints before three years in Atlanta) has served as a full-time starter during his three games played in 2026, collecting 24 tackles along the way. New Orleans is at 2-4 for the moment, but reinforcements on both sides of the ball could be coming soon.
