After working out for the Packers this morning (per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo), the Packers are indeed adding DT Mazi Smith to their practice squad, per ESPN’s Rob Demovsky. The former Cowboys first-round pick didn’t make it through his rookie contract in Dallas, and he’s been bouncing around the NFL over the past year. After spending the end of the 2025 campaign and this year’s preseason with the Jets, he caught on with Miami’s practice squad in early September. He got into one game this season with the Dolphins before getting cut.
The Packers could use some DL help, with Javon Hargrave, Jonathan Ford, and Warren Brinson sitting on injured reserve. The team’s current depth consists of Devonte Wyatt, Karl Brooks, third-round rookie Chris McClellan, and Anthony Campbell.
In Baltimore, the Ravens brought in some kicker competition. Jake Moody had a productive rookie season with the 49ers in 2023 but has struggled since, connecting on 75 percent of his FG tries in stints with the 49ers, Bears, and Commanders. He’ll provide some extra depth behind Tyler Loop, who after connecting on 88 percent of his field goal attempts as a rookie has seen that number drop to 76.9 in 2026.
Loop is coming off a Week 6 showing that included a missed 49-yard attempt in Baltimore’s three-point loss to the Browns. As Jason La Canfora observed, Ravens coach Jesse Minter “spoke cryptically” about the team’s kicking situation when speaking with reporters today.
